Song of the week :Kief Shuvel: “Orange Blossom”

Band: Keif Shuvel

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey

This week’s Radio Garden State Song of the Week is Orange Blossom” by Kief Shuvel, a Jersey City rock outfit that’s quietly been building momentum with their energy and experimental edge.

“Orange Blossom” isn’t just another single, it’s the clearest snapshot yet of where Kief Shuvel is headed.

Recorded at North End Recording in Passaic and mastered by Alan Douches (West West Side Music), the performance leans into the band’s strengths, intuitive playing, textured layering, and a vocal delivery that sits somewhere between raw honesty and half-smirking self-awareness.

Who Are Kief Shuvel?

Formed in 2021 from the remnants of an earlier project called Gypsy Wig, Kief Shuvel quickly found their footing in the Jersey music scene. A late-night encounter with Guided By Voices convinced the members they had something worth pursuing, and they haven’t looked back.

Over time, the lineup shifted, and the band found a defining sound: guitar-driven rock that blends elements of noise, melody, and Americana, all while defying easy categorization. Their own description — “My Bloody Valentine meets Guided By Voices meets My Morning Jacket” — pretty much sums up their eclectic swagger.

You’ll hear “Orange Blosson” spinning all week on Radio Garden State — and if you haven’t yet, go give it a listen. It’s easy to see why this one earns heavy rotation.
